This week we will have new student orientation for all new students to HVS on Tuesday from 1:00 - 4:00. Students that were with us during the fall semester will not need to attend orientation. All 6th - 10th graders will need to schedule a time to meet with their teachers for a data chat. Teachers will be reviewing FAST data, latest baseline data and helping students make goals to finish this year strong. Parents are welcome to attend these Google Meet Meetings.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Student Pop-Up Shop - it was a huge success! Our students gained valuable, real-world experience running a business, from creating products and engaging with customers to counting change and earning profits.
Because of this amazing support, FBLA was able to raise over $200 toward our state competition — we are officially halfway to our goal!

If there is one person who truly keeps everything at HVS and the Academy running smoothly, it’s our incredible Assistant Principal, Mrs. Goudge. She works tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines to make sure our staff, students, and families are supported every single day.
Mrs. Goudge leads with transparency, integrity, and heart. She deeply cares about her staff and school and shows this by always being honest and open. She is a strong, family-first leader, and every decision she makes is grounded in her faith and values.
She knows our students and families personally, works to create individual plans for success, and partners with families and the community to ensure our students have the best possible environment and resources. Her impact reaches far beyond the school walls.
She comes in early, stays late, works after-hours from home, and truly never stops working. And somehow, in the little spare time she has, she trains for and competes in marathons, all while running her own marathon as a mom, chasing her 3 kids from field to field as they, too, follow their passions.
It’s inspiring to witness her strength, dedication, and selflessness in action. We are beyond blessed to be led by someone with her heart, character, and work ethic.

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible Mr. DeLaCruz, known affectionately by his students as Mr. DLC — a teacher whose heart, creativity, and dedication shine in everything he does.
Mr. DLC currently teaches Art and will soon be taking on Middle School ELA, and his students absolutely love his lessons. His classes consistently have high attendance and strong engagement because he creates a warm, welcoming environment where students feel seen, supported, and encouraged. 🎨📚
But what truly sets Mr. DLC apart is what happens beyond the lessons. He provides support facilitation, working one-on-one with students and staying online long after class ends just to make sure they get the help they need.
Mr. DLC has a strong bond with all of his students — having deep, meaningful discussions, patiently guiding them, and genuinely showing that he has a heart for helping kids. He even re-taught himself geometry just so he could support a student who needed extra help.
We’re incredibly grateful to have such a caring, dedicated, and student-centered teacher on our team. 💙👏
