Comprehensive Health Instruction 22-23
Each school district in Florida is required by Florida Statute-1003.42(2)(n) Required instruction to provide the following instruction:
For students in grades 7 through 12, teen dating violence and abuse. This component must include, but not be limited to, the definition of dating violence and abuse, the warning signs of dating violence and abusive behavior, the characteristics of healthy relationships, measures to prevent and stop dating violence and abuse, and community resources available to victims of dating violence and abuse.
For students in grades 6 through 12, awareness of the benefits of sexual abstinence as the expected standard and the consequences of teenage pregnancy.
School Board of Highlands County students, grades 6th through 8th will be provided comprehensive age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate instruction VIRTUALLY in a Google Meet on May 5th, 2023. Sixth graders will be at 9:00 a.m. and 7th & 8th graders will be at 10:45 a.m. Reminder recording a Google Meet is PROHIBITED during this time.
The instruction will be presented by Choices Family Resource Centers, Inc. D/B/A Relationships Under Construction (RUC).
